Subject:Menu plan?

I haven't gotten to book yet but I was curious what you all eat during the day? I'm drinking an atkins shake for breakfast and had a caesar salad without croutons for lunch.

Subject:no cook low carb

I am looking for ideas for no cook low carb meals. Suggestions?

I am about to start my 2nd week of induction and our wallet is getting kind of thin from eating out. (sashimi is expensive, steaks are expensive, $6 low carb burgers are kind of getting old)

after breakfast, lunch and snacks we have about 8 or 9 net carbs left for dinner. Usually the protein requires cooking, buy I don't want to cook when the internal temp in the house is between 90 to 100+ degrees. or the veggies require steaming or boiling... again more cooking...

I know, salads... so what are some of your favorite salads?

Also going out is just get out of the fooking hot house... so any suggestions for cheap low carb meals in the east bay area (Oakland, CA USA)?

im a recovering anorexic/bulimic and i'm back on the diet bandwagon. i gained back too much weight so i'm goin to try to find the happy medium. i'm 5'8'' amd my lowest was 124 and my highest is now that ive ever been in my life 168.
so i want to be around 145-155.. 150 to be exact. anyway, i'm on induction again and i just want to be healthy and fit into my pants and feel sexy. ive been all sizes and i think i'm happy in the middle. anyway, so day one is okay. day two will be better because i will not drink any diet soda..however the caffiene really helps out my metabolism and gives me energy during the day. we'll see. anyone has ideas on diet soda? um, vegetables. i love salad so i will be cutting back to like two cups of raw veges. i work out a lot so i'm afraid i wont get my vitamins because supplements run through the body and not the most efficient way to absorb them.

THis is my second stab at Atkins. Their book and website don't list a few things I need to know. Are PORK SKINS ok in the first ten days of induction? Is sugar free gum ok in the first ten days of induction? I know "no alcohol" during Induction, but after thatn, what is the best alcohol with the fewest carbs?

I'm 42, 5' 7" and 220 pounds. I aim to lose as close to a hundred pounds as humanly possible in 24 months :) My partener and I rescue animals so feel free to add me if you like animal pics. I don't post much in my journal about my weight. I'll do that here!

I just wanted to make a quick post. Today is day 6 of induction and in the last 5 days I've lost 6 lbs. woo! My energy is back where it should be and I'm sleeping so much better. I feel like a new woman.

Subject:Day 3 of Induction

Ok today, I spread my veggies out more evenly and added a cup of broccoli. I'm still trying to understand the rules (I know they should seem simple), but I have a couple of questions. Are fried pork skins ok to eat during induction? Also, if I'm supposed to have 3 cups of carbs from cat A or 2 cups from cat A and 1 cup from cat B, how do I get that to add up to 20 carbs? I'm a little confused. Thanks for everyone's advice. I really appreciate it.


I started using fit day again, and I think over all I'm doing pretty good with my percentages, I just need to consume more food. My BMR is 2070.75. Guess I need to grab an egg. thoughts?

Hi all. I'm new here. I started the Atkins Diet yesterday. I've read the book up through the induction phase and I'm feeling good about the decision to give it a try. I really need to work on variety a bit, but then I just started. The last couple of days I've had mostly leaf lettuce, cheese, eggs, bacon, and angus burgers. I had a slice of onion on my burger today and actually made a dressing for my salad. Must find a recipe. I would like to say that I had taken more time to get to know the book and plan out some recipes before I started, but it was a strong feeling I had and I felt I didn't want to eat poorly another day. I've been feeling terrible lately even though I work out regularly and I believe my insulin is giving me a hard time because of too many c's. I'm really excited and glad to be here. I do have a question. I went on a diet soda search and found diet rite with splenda. The label says 0 carbs also. Do I still need to regulate how much of this I drink? I know the book says to keep track of how many packages of sweetner I use, but I don't know how much splenda is in this drink. Any thought?

Thank you for your candid feedback all of you. Your right, pride aside, I've been doing this wrong, no matter how I like to think I am doing it right I am not.

Follow-ups / Changes: I have also taken your suggestions to heart and will make the change.

  1. I will re-read the book again for the 3rd time. This time more slowly. I have signed up with Fit day to attain that 65% fat, 30% Protien, and 5% Carb Ratio.
  2. Increase my veggie uptake as the book says!
  3. Eat my BMI -> 1695.95 calories (which is going to be hard for me)
  4. Do not Skip Meals
  5. Eat Smaller Meals through the day
  6. Eat only what is on the approved list! No Nuts about it!
  7. Excercise! I already have a Bally's membership, and just yesterday I also signed up with Curves.
  8. Do not use celery as a meal or my vegtable intake
  9. and lastly, do not weigh myself every day! I think i can settle for once a week, and rather focus on my measurements via tape daily if i need to!

Also just as a side note, I'm not intentionally limiting my food intake. In fact I find it hard to eat since i am not hungry anymore. I think this is mostly due to my past eating which mainly consisted for Starck bucks venti frappaccinos (at least 3x a day).

I will keep everyone up to date!

Subject:Sudden Weight Gain - Help XPosted

I'm very depressed. I hope someone understands or knows whats going on.
I have not cheated, except for eating 2 product bars for a grand total of 2 net carbs.
I easily drink 4-5 Quarts of water a day and limit my cheese intake of 3-4 oz.
Please see below and also my LJ for my food journal.

The first week i was doing good, then all of a sudden this weight gain. I though that i could actually lose weight the first week. It gave me hope.. now i feel that i'm destined to be fat always. I have tried everything... nothing works...

I know it is only  a 5 lbs weight gain in 5 days! whats going on!!

Subject:magical weight loss

im down to 186 which is weird because i had to stop induction last week due to horrible migraines and I re-started this past monday..day 2 186.. and last week 192.. 6 pounds gone .. well i didn't weigh in before i re-started so i'll never know! well Im just gonna focus on losing 10 pounds right now..

I'm still under the 20 carbs a day, but damn i was eating celery like easy 6 stalks a day!! =( Check this out:

There is a total of 5 carbs in 2 medium size stalks. 3g Sugar and 2g Fiber. Net Carbs = 3 *sigh* i was eating like 9 net carbs a day in just celery! dammit gotta throw them away when i get home from work =(

I was very successful on atkins last year.. in a 3 month period or less, I went from 202 to 168... I never made my goal 150 but I was content and comfortable 168-174.. well for the past 4 months or so, I totally fell off and have been going through extremely rough times in my marriage that I forgot about me.. I ate whatever was fast and convenient and comforting... I managed to only gain 10 pounds during that time but for some reason I gained 8 pounds this past week... I have no idea how that happened.. I couldn't have possibly eaten that much on T-day...well 18 pounds I've gained and I cried for a bit but cleaned out my fridge and cupboards of all the bad food...I re-started induction yesterday .. I have a flu right now.. so I had lots of water,6 small cubes of chedar cheese, 3 olives, 2 kosher pickles spears (not good i know, koshers contain 1-2 grams of sugar !) and a small bag of pork rinds throughout the day ..and at night I had 2 small hamburger patties and half a cup of green beans.. Today, so far I had 2 small patties (leftovers ) with one slice of swiss melted on one of the patties ... and water.. Tonite I plan on having a salad or eggs n bacon... BTW peperoni slices are a great snack too.. I haven't checked the scale for any progress but I will let all know soon! and to the rest of you who have started during this holiday season... let's be STRONG ..lol good luck to all of us
